Electrical and Computer Engineering as preparation for medical school

An ECE degree provides great preparation for Medical School!

ECE technology is so important in today's medicine that an ECE trained physicians and medical researchers are in high demand. AND...ECE preparation will certainly make you stand out among medical school applicants.

Students completing a combined ECE/preMed program can fulfill the requirements for entrance to medical school by taking an additional 22 (EE specialization) or 25 hours (CE specialization) of courses beyond the ECE degree requirements. These extra hours consist primarily of coursework in organic chemistry and biology. It is possible to schedule the extra course requirements so that the entire program can be completed in 4 years if a small course load is taken during the Summer quarter. The requirement for Summer quarter scheduling can be reduced for students entering with advanced placement credit.

Here you can find a full list of requirements for admission to the Medical School. If you are planning to apply to medical school, be sure to plan on taking the MCAT exam.
