After submitting
all transcripts and being admitted to The Ohio State University,
the Admission's Office will send the student a form listing all
accepted transfer credit. This credit will be listed in the form
of "general," "special," or "technical"
credit for each department with completed coursework. The student
is then responsible for seeking credit for specific courses
within those departments. Each department has a person who
is its transfer credit evaluator - larger departments have two
or three people. Students will need to bring with them to those
departments any material related to the courses taken at other
institutions, such as textbook, syllabus, course catalog description,
etc. Most departments require several days to complete the evaluations
so students should not wait until the last minute to begin this
process. Electrical Engineering credit evaluation can be done
only after all other coursework is evaluated. Once these general,
special, and technical credits have been broken down into individual
course credits as much as possible, students should come to the
Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering and speak with an
advisor to establish a schedule for their first quarter of enrollment
at OSU.
Coursework
successfully completed at a non-OSU institution that is equivalent
to our courses required at OSU will fully count as meeting the
program course requirements for admission to OSU programs. However,
you should be aware that entrance to major requires a satisfactory
grade point average in both overall courses and the specific courses
required by the program for admission. In calculating grade point
averages, only OSU courses are used.
