The Electrical & Computer Engineering Computing Labs serve the
instructional needs of the Department of Electrical & Computer
Engineering. The public ECE Computing Labs are funded by student fee
dollars. The ECE Computing Committee has established four labs
containing a total of 82 Windows XP Pro workstations and 26 Red Hat
Enterprise Linux workstations. Each year over 2000 accounts are
served by the ECE Computing Facilities.
Keycard Readers: We are aware of the problems with the
keycard readers in the Dreese and Caldwell buildings. Unfortunately
the current system is failing to provide the services we require, and
it is our understanding that this situation cannot be rectified with
the current equipment. The good news is that the keycard systems are
scheduled to be replaced. Last best guess was that this would happen
in December 2007... obviously that date was missed, but the contract
is out to bid, so it really is just a matter of time.
Note Bene: The computing facilities for this department do not use
social security numbers. Please do not, ever, include your SSN when
communicating with the Site Staff. We don't need your SSN, and we
really do not want it.
