Network/Security Policy: Access to the ECE Network

To be placed upon the ECE network, all systems must meet or exceed the requirements of the MCSS. To that end, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering requires that all systems placed upon the ECE network be inspected and configured by the Site Staff prior to their connection to the network.

The Site Staff will perform the following tasks:

  1. The hardware (MAC) address of the system will be recorded such that it may be entered into the department's DHCP system.

  2. The installation and configuration of site approved anti-virus and anti-spamm software.

  3. The installation of all service packs and/or system patches for both the operating system and applications.

  4. The configuration of the system such that future updates will be installed automatically.

  5. Any other actions that come to be required by the University MCSS.
