ER4 Policy: Screenlocks

At any time that a workstation is left untended, regardless of duration, that workstation must have its screen locked.

No machine should be left locked for more than a few minutes. Trips to the printers or restrooms or to make a short phone call or other similar functions may be considered valid reasons to leave a machine locked. A break for a meal, or to attend class, will not. A user should log out and allow others to use the machine in such cases.

Any screen left locked for an extended period of time may have that lock broken. The user's processes will be terminated and the user logged out. The general definition of an "extended" period of time is 10 minutes, but this may vary as a situation warrants.
