Students

Our large student body is a vast resource for hiring opportunities. Future electrical and computer engineers who study at Ohio State will work in teams to address real engineering issues that are being studied by industry. Students also have the opportunity to become involved with interdisciplinary engineering teams, which compete with other colleges across the country. Industry plays a big role in the academic process because the relationship is beneficial to the students, and the companies that support them.

The senior design courses enable students to gain valuable experience by working as a team on a corporate sponsored research project. A contribution of $5,000 cash or in-kind will support a project that may identify a corporate research problem, generate alternative solutions, and propose a plan of implementation. Support of the senior design courses involves a mutually beneficial interaction between industry, students, and faculty. As a member of the ECE Industrial Affiliates program, contributors may also receive customized graduate, and undergraduate resume books, improved access to technical data on the web, and an invitation to our annual convention (date: TBD). The student project teams provide true synergy throughout the College of Engineering. Corporate support for these teams will ensure that our engineering students uphold the Buckeye tradition of excellence.

Graduate students staff the Research Labs, which are supervised by faculty members, who work individually and in teams to provide cutting edge technology to industry. Contact the Director of the Industrial Affiliates Program for details on participating in electrical and computer engineering research.

The College of Engineering provides students with programs that further enrich the learning experience at OSU. The Guide for Partnering offers another avenue to support the students by becoming involved with Engineering Honors, Minority Engineering, and the Women in Engineering Program.
