Technology Transition
As referred to by Dr. Jose Munoz, the OSU team has joined the JPL-DARPA team for development of Fault Tolerant Embedded Systems, and has attended the 2nd and 3rd DARPA/JPL fault-tolerant computing workshops. In addition, the PI gave a tele-presentation on the fault tolerant strategies used in this project to the X2000 spacecraft development team at JPL on November 21, 1997.
The X2000 spacecraft development team at JPL will be the basis for a suite of future deep-space missions, and is currently investigating possible fault-tolerance strategies to be incorporated into X2000. The proposed software layer (in particular, the module replication scheme, the load redistribution scheme, and the checkpoint and rollback recovery scheme) has been ftp'ed to the JPL site and will be included as one of the X2000 demonstration efforts.
The OSU team will continue to provide technical support to JPL on installing, testing, refining, and demonstrating the software.
