EMDL RESEARCH FACILITIES

The EMDL has world-class, vertically integrated research facilities that provide an outstanding environment to prepare students for leading positions in industry and academia in electronic materials, devices, photovoltaics, and optoelectronics. EMDL facilities include specialized laboratories dedicated to epitaxial growth of electronic materials using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE), characterization of materials and devices, and device fabrication and testing. In addition, EMDL members enjoy access to major, campus-wide facilities with complimentary experimental techniques via both cost-center and collaborative arrangements.

Students are using an x-ray diffraction rocking curve to determine the composition of III-V layers grown by MBE.
