Laboratory Equipment
The lab recently acquired a complete state-of-the-art RFIC and mixed signal test equipment with an MRI NSF grant in collaboraion with OSU ElectroScience Lab. The equipment is capable of performing complete RF system characterization and test of wireless radio system parameters such as system phase noise, EVM , system NF, transmisson mask, etc. Other equipmenet we already have include:
- Probe station, a video camera and a monitor used together with the HP4145
- Spectrum Analyzers
- Distortion and Noise Meters
- Signal Generators, Frequency Counters and Digital Scopes
Access to Silicon Foundries
- Chip fabrication uses services provided by MOSIS, AMS, Texas Instruments, IBM and other chip fabrication services in Europe and the Far East.
Workstation and PC Software Available
- Mentor Graphics (Design Architect, Accusim, Quicksim for baseband and RF) and Magic Layout Editor are used for chip design
- Cadence and Eldo are used for baseband and RF chip design
- SmartSpice and APLAC (a commercial tool developed by Nokia Research Center in Finland in cooperation with the Helsinki University of Technology) perform circuit simulations
- Matlab performs system-level simulations; hpADS performs RF system design and simulation in both transistor-level and system-level; SystemView performs system-level simulations for Transceiver front ends and communications systems.
