Biography
Füsun Özgüner received the M.S. degree in electrical
engineering from the Istanbul Technical University in 1972, and the
Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1975. She worked at the I.B.M. T.J.
Watson Research Center with the Design Automation group for one year
and returned to
Istanbul
to join the faculty at the Department of Electrical Engineering,
Istanbul Technical University in 1976. She spent the summers of 1977
and 1985 at the I.B.M. T.J. Watson Research Center and was a visiting
Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in 1980. Since
January 1981 she has been with The Ohio State University where she is currrently a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She served as the Interim Department Chair from 2004 to 2006.
Dr. Özgüner has authored/co-authored
over 100 technical papers and has served as an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on
Computers. She also served on the Program Committee for the Seventh
Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems and the ICPP-98 and ICPP-99. She co-edited the book
Parallel Computing on Distibuted Memory Multiprocessors based on the
papers presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on the same
topic that she organized and directed in 1991. She is a member of the
