Using the Silvaco TCAD Software for EE637 and EE734: Start-up |

The following discussion assumes you have properly set the environment for running the Silvaco TCAD software. |

Change directories (cd) to the directory in which you will create (or already have) the files for you simulations. |

|
Type manager at the system command prompt to start the Silvaco software. A new window titled "MASTER File and application manager" should appear. The contents of the window should look something like this (with different files, of course). The upper part of the window shows icons for software tools. The lower part of the window shows the files in your current directory. You can double click on a folder icon with the Left Mouse Button (LMB) to open a sub-directory. DeckBuild is the tool you will use for creating the "programs" you will run. It can be used to generate "program decks" to be run with the process simulation tool "Athena" or the device simulation tool "Atlas."Devedit is a tool you can use to edit or create input files for Atlas. For example, it can be used to edit the results of an Athena process simulation, before an Atlas device simulation is performed.TonyPlot is used to plot the results of your simulations. |
