Electrical and computer engineering undergraduates Austin Krohn and David Wilson are both recipients of inaugural IEEE PES Scholarships from the IEEE Power and Energy Society.

Austin Krohn is a fourth-year electrical and computer engineering student. He has been involved with the Center for Automotive research for over two years and is a member of the Buckeye Bullet team. Krohn completed an internship at Sustainably Minded Interactive Technology (SMIT) in New York City, which helps develop architecturally integrated solar powered systems. He plans to attend graduate school at Ohio State and continue his work at the Center for Automotive Research.

David Wilson is a third-year electrical and computer engineering student. He is active with Engineers for Community Service and volunteers with the Phone-A-Buckeye project, which provides mathematics and science assistance to elementary, junior high, and high school students. Wilson has completed multiple internships, including ones at the NASA Glenn Research Center and Speedway Engineering. His future plans include pursuing further education in electrical engineering with a focus on power and eventually working in the area of alternative energies.

Krohn and Wilson are among 93 IEEE PES Scholarship recipients selected from 51 universities nationwide for the 2011-12 academic year. The scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students selected by industry and academic representatives based primarily upon academic preparation; extra-curricular activities and leadership; interest in engineering in general, and power and energy engineering in particular; and overall assessment of student's potential for a successful power and energy engineering career.
