IEEE R2 Student Activities Conference

The Ohio State University has been selected as host site for the 2015 IEEE R2 Student Activities Conference, planned for April 10-12, 2015.

Details are still being worked out, but we hosted the event in 2012 and more than 250 students from 25 colleges and universities came to Columbus.

While here, they and engaged in activities such as leadership training, student paper competitions, robotics competitions, and other competitive events. The conference serves as an opportunity for its members to meet, interact, exchange ideas, and network.

Participating schools included Bucknell University, Catholic University, Cleveland State University, DeVry University Online, Gannon University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Howard University, Lafayette College, Montgomery College, Morgan State University, Ohio University, Pennsylvania College of Tech, Penn State- Harrisburg, Penn State- University Park, Rowan University, Swarthmore College, Temple University, University of Cincinnati, University of Maryland, University of Scranton, West Virginia University, WVU Institute of Technology, Wright State University and Youngstown State University.

The most recent coference was held in April at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., where Ohio State students placed third in the "Brown Bag Competition." In the Brown Bag competition, teams were given a bag of various components and then were required to complete a challenge with some or all of the components. Each team could use only the components and documentation provided to complete the challenge. They could not use additional notes, references or aids, but had to rely on their knowledge and ingenuity.
