Undergraduate Student Research Assistant Position Open
The International Institute for Engineering Education Assessment, led by Monica F. Cox, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University, seeks 1-3 undergraduate student employees to work from June to August 2017 with a possibility to extend employment beyond August. The employee falls within the Department of Engineering Education.
Appointment:
Undergraduate level hourly position under the direction of Dr. Cox, approximately 20-40 hours per week starting at $9 per hour.
Anticipated start date:
Immediately
Responsibilities (varies by employee):
Assist with establishment of the engineering education research lab; Write code to clean and analyze large amounts of institutional data for three-year National Science Foundation study; Create a website that houses a national survey for women faculty in engineering and projects; Create a native app prototype compatible with major social media platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively on a diverse, interdisciplinary team
- Ability to execute tasks proactively and in a timely manner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Self-directed with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and other relative software
- Strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting social science and human subjects’ research*
If the selected researcher has not completed Ohio State’s IRB-CITI training, he/she will be required to successfully complete the training during the first week of employment.
