For over two decades,tour-de-force professor Betty Lise Anderson of The Ohio State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has made learning and speaking about engineering lively and memorable on campus and in classrooms across Ohio.

On Monday, Oct. 23 Anderson holds her annual "Secrets to a Terrific Technical Talk," for students and faculty alike. The free event has become one of the most popular talks of the year, with large attendance (so get there early).

"It doesn’t take acting skills or stage presence to give a good technical talk, but it does take some planning. It's not the same as writing a paper," Anderson said. "We offer some strategies for organizing your talk so that people can grasp your awesome technical content without being scared away or put to sleep."

In addition to strategy tips, Anderson also delves into ways to make technical slides more effective, and even shares some great stories from…unusual… presentations she has witnessed in the past.

Anderson has taught Electrical and Computer Engineering for more than 25 years and is the driving force behind the K-12 Engineering Outreach Program.
